City And County Budgets Planned For New Fiscal Year

Washoe County Plans Huge Increase In Spending Across The Board

Fiscal year 2006-07 began on July 1 and political entities around the state are now working under the restraints of new budgets, some increased considerably.  The Washoe County budget has been increased by 15 percent compared to the last fiscal year, reaching a figure of $787 million.  The City of Reno on the other hand is calling for just a one- percent increase over fiscal year 2005-06, at $456.3 million.  These figures are not available on the city or county web sites.  In southern Nevada, swollen to bursting with new people and new development, the Clark County budget is not listed on their web site.  Las Vegas figures are also not available.
