.Sales Tax Revenue Figures Show Continued Growth January Figures Up Substantially, According To Governor GuinnThe Nevada Taxation Department released January sales tax figures that indicate the economy in the Silver State is strong and growing. Taxable sales for January are up 11.9 percent statewide, compared to January 2005. The dollar figure is a credible $3,614,601,879. For the fiscal year, taxable sales have increased 11.6 percent compared to the same time in the previous fiscal year. Clark County sales were up 10.8 percent, Washoe County sales were up 13.6 percent. Only Esmeralda and Lander Counties had a decrease in taxable sales for January. Governor Kenny Guinn said in a release from the taxation department, "Taxable sales have improved yet again, demonstrating that our state's economy is moving full-steam ahead." Gross revenue collections from sales and use taxes amounted to $276,150,932 for January, which represents a 15.5 percent increase compared to a year ago. •••
