Following Nevada Citizens' Tax Revolt

Editor, The Nevada Observer

You might find it interesting to follow the Tax Revolt in the Incline Village area.  At the last hearing of the County Board of Equalization, the Board rolled back the assessed values of ALL 8700 PARCELS in the Incline Village and Crystal Bay areas to 2002.  Additionally, the Supreme Court has scheduled an “en banc” hearing for oral arguments by all parties for either June 13, 14, or 15, 2006.  The malfeasance Trial of the Washoe County Assessor, Robert McGowan will proceed on April 10, 2006 in the District Court of Judge Polaha.  Carson City Judge Griffin will adjudicate the 2004-2005 assessments on April 7, 2006 and Washoe County District Judge McGee will adjudicate the 2005-2006 assessments in April.

The Christian Science Monitor referenced this Tax movement in their news coverage of March 8, 2006.  (To see this article and others go to http://www.nevadapropertytaxrevolt.org/ and click on News Articles in the Menu.)

This Tax Revolt started 4 years ago with a Tahoe Tea Party in costume, with patriotic music, and a ceremonial dumping of tea into Lake Tahoe.  It has been ongoing ever since then.  The 10 lawsuits that have been filed are just now coming to fruition, and results will be heard from various courts in the next few weeks.

Some Legislators are aware of the enormity of the action, and are helping behind the scenes as well as publicly.

 La Cosa Nostra Correction

Hello

I just read an article you have on the history of the Italian Mafia.   I need to make a correction for you and I wonder where you got your information for the article.

You listed my grandfather, Ignazio Denaro as having died August 20, 1970 of natural causes in Los Angeles.   He died of natural causes in Atlantic City, NJ on August 20, 1970.  I was there.  I have seen other articles where they list him as from 1957-1977, but they have no way to email them to ask or correct.  Where did your writer find out about my grandfather?  I'd like to look up more information available myself too!

Thank you very much.

Paula Denaro

And our response

Hi, Paula.

That information came from a report put together by the FBI's Organized Crime Section.  I copied it out of this published Congressional Report: "Organized Crime: 25 Years After Valachi," Hearings Before the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations of the Committee on Governmental Affairs, United States Senate, 100th Congress, Second Session, US Government Printing Office, Washington: 1988.

I appreciate the correction as to your grandfather's place of death.  I'd like to add it as a note to the FBI report, but I don't want to do anything without your permission.  I hope that this e-mail is helpful -- if it isn't, please let me know.

And her response

HI David

I sent you the information so you can correct it. Yes, you have my permission! Pass it back to the FBI if you want.  I see some articles here and there and none ever has it right.  Well you have the exclusive!  I'm here if you have any more questions.  I'll have to look for that report you mentioned. Do they say anything else about him?

Thank you for your help and for answering back so quickly.  I appreciate it!

Paula Denaro
