Polls Come And Polls Go But Gibbons
Remains Front Runner
Many Names
Bandied About, None As Strong, Whether Republican, Democrat, Or Independent
Yet another political poll has been released, this one developed for the
Las Vegas Review Journal, and like most recently, Nevada Congressman Jim
Gibbons is the front runner to sleep in the Governor's Mansion.
Within the Republican Party, Gibbons outpolled Lt. Governor Lorraine
Hunt, who has declared she would like that seat, and Senator Bob Beers who
has not.
Among Democrats, Senator Dina Titus, the Senate Minority Leader and
declared candidate has a strong edge on Assembly Majority Leader Richard
Perkins, also a declared candidate.
Gibbons showed a strong edge over Titus and wide edge over Perkins.
Gibbons has been in Congress for five terms and held his seat in the 2004
election virtually unopposed. In his own Second Congressional District,
Republicans outnumber Democrats by a large margin. In a statewide race
however, Republicans and Democrats are almost even in voter registration.
