Named Director Of Business Development At EDAWN
Ken Pierson has been appointed director of business development for the
Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) according to
President and CEO Chuck Alvey.
Pierson was previously business development manager and has been
instrumental in recruiting new businesses to northern Nevada including the
record-setting 20 companies that EDAWN reported in fiscal year 2003-2004.
The new companies are responsible for an economic impact of $240 million on
the region. Pierson replaces Lisa Plummer who is leaving EDAWN after six
years to join her family business and spend more time with her family.
In his position, Pierson is responsible for overseeing the recruitment of
new companies to the region and developing business leads in targeted
industries that bring quality companies and high paying jobs to the area. He
also fosters key development relationships with the research, tech transfer
and key colleges at the University of Nevada Reno, Desert Research Institute
and the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology to promote the region to
start-up companies and entrepreneurs.
Pierson has more than two decades of business, sales, project management
and operations experience. Prior to joining EDAWN, he was general manager of
the New Horizons Computer Learning Center in Reno. He was also the president
and director of a national e-commerce retail company, president/owner of a
property management firm and real estate broker. He is a member of the
Truckee Meadows Community College Computer Technologies Advisory Committee
and Redfield Campus Advisory Board. Pierson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree
from the University of Nevada.
